Canadian Institute of Health Research

CIHR is Canada's major federal funding agency for health research. CIHR's mandate is to "excel, according to internationally accepted standards of scientific excellence, in the creation of new knowledge and its translation into improved health for Canadians, more effective health services and products and a strengthened Canadian health-care system." CIHR consists of 13 "virtual" institutes, including the Institute of Cancer Research.

The CCSRI is currently partnering with the CIHR – Institute of Population and Public Health (IPPH).

The CIHR-IPPH aims to improve population health and reduce health inequities in Canada and globally. The Institute has identified the following priorities and encourages applications to address them: pathways to enhance equities and reduce inequities in population health; and, population health interventions and implementation systems to reduce inequities and promote equity in Canada and globally.
